Danesfort Residents' Association

The primary purpose of the Danesfort Residents' Association was originally to collect an annual maintenance fee to ensure the green areas of the Danesfort Drive and Court estates, Loughrea, Co. Galway were maintained to a good standard. This included grass cutting and spraying. It never included lighting, footpath, roading or sewerage maintenance. The responsibility for these rested with the Developer's bond managed by the receivers. Then at the start of 2018 these moved to be the responsibility of the Danesfort Loughrea Owners Management Company, a maintenance company set up as a condition of the taken in charge process.

All property owners in the estate are members of the Danesfort Loughrea Owners Management Company by default. The Danesfort Loughrea Owners Management Company previously employed Citadel Property Management to collect membership fees, arrange and pay for grass cutting, lighting maintenance, footpath and sewerage maintenance and arrange proper full coverage insurance on an annual basis. In late 2023 this responsibility reverted back to the Residents' Association on a not for profit voluntary basis.

About the Association

The Danesfort Residents’ Association formed in the summer of 2010 when residents decided to group together to respond to problems that were affecting Danesfort Drive and Danesfort Court Estates, Loughrea.

The maintenance of the common areas was identified as an issue that needed immediate attention. As we all know it is far easier to overcome challenges when you are part of a group. A committee was formed and a number of general clean-up days were organised to great success. The Danesfort Residents’ Association met with Loughrea Gardai and have fostered strong links with community policing and Neighbourhood Watch.

Run on a purely voluntary basis for 8 years, the association's remit to collect monies for grass cutting was superseded by the introduction of the Danesfort Loughrea Owners Management Company, as a pre-condition of being taken in charge by the council. Citadel Property Management, working on behalf of the Danesfort Loughrea Owners Management Company, had responsibility for green area maintenance and the added responsibilities of lighting, sewerage, footpath maintenance and insurance. This has now reverted back to Danesfort Residents volunteers. Once the council takes over, only green maintenance will remain with the Danesfort Loughrea Owners Management Company, so membership fees can be adjusted down to reflect this.

The Danesfort Residents' Association would like to extend their thanks to all those loyal residents and property owners who supported us and kept the grass cut down through all those years. Now we urge you to help our estate fulfil the next part of its development, that of being fully taken in charge by the council, of which having a viable management company is a precondition.
